Features and Benefits

Cleaning Power

One of the most striking aspects of the Vax CWGRV021 is its suction power. Boasting a 1200-watt motor, this carpet cleaner is simply a beast of a machine that can give any competitor a run for its money. The Vax power plus can clean any type of carpet or upholstery and remove most visible stains with ease.

With such a powerful motor comes the most obvious caveat: noise. The Vax CWGRV021 can be very noisy when running, especially when compared with other similar products on the market. So, this is one aspect of the product that a potential owner must consider.

Partnered with the cleaner’s superior power are the five scrubbing brushes called SpinScrub brushes located underneath the machine. The brushes spin in different directions, which allow the Vax CWGRV021 to effectively agitate all the individual fibres of your carpet.

The brushes are durable and do a wonderful job lifting up all the deeply stuck dirt and other debris within the carpet, resulting in a better, more extensive clean.

It is important to note that this is use not just for carpets, but also for other upholstery surfaces: pillows, sofas, car interiors, among others. The cleaner gives the same powerful cleaning performance on these surfaces.

The Vax CWGRV021 comes with two cleaning modes: the quick clean and the deep clean. The quick clean is great for typical maintenance use – good for cleaning carpets once every week or so. It leaves the carpet feeling soft and smelling really fresh.

The deep clean is for carpets that have seen much use without having had a clean in a long while. The Vax CWGRV021 shines in this department as the results from working on very old and incredibly dirty carpets are visible even after just the first pass. After two passes, the carpets look really clean and tidy and the machines has managed to suck up a significant amount of dirt and muck.

It also doesn’t take long for the carpet to dry. The typical carpet is completely dry after an average of one hour after cleaning. This can differ, of course, depending on how many passes you do on the carpet, the type of carpet being cleaned, and the weather.

The Vax CWGRV021 uses its own Platinum cleaning solution. Simply fill the machine’s clean tank with water and then add the cleaning solution as instructed in the manual depending on how much work will you be doing. Buying the Vax CWGRV021 automatically comes a 250-mL bottle, although this will definitely not be enough should you intend to clean the whole house.

Apart from its Platinum solution, the Vax CWGRV021 also comes with two more solutions: The pre-treatment and the post-treatment sprays. The pre-treatment spray can be used roughly 15 minutes before carpet cleaning to dilute and dissolve tough stains. The post-treatment spray, meanwhile, acts as a protectant to prevent quick soiling of the carpet.

Tank Capacity

The Vax rapid power plus comes with two fluid tanks, the clean container sitting on top of the dirty one. Before operating the machine, as already mentioned earlier, you fill the upper container with water and solution. Then, you can start cleaning. The dirty water then empties on the dirty lower container.

The lower container has a built-in safety valve which automatically notifies you once it is full. Unfortunately, the Vax’s Platinum solution seems to create a lot of foam, which fills the dirty container quickly. This is definitely a minor issue and can be easily addressed by buying a defoaming agent readily available in stores.

Both containers are easy to assemble and disassemble. There are also no major problems when it comes to cleaning them.

Ergonomics and ease of use

The Vax CWGRV021 weighs in at 8.4 kg, which is not light, although the machine is still comparatively lighter than other products available on the market. Regardless, prolonged use can still be tiring for some people, especially the elderly or those with muscle problems. Use of the cleaner between floors or on stairs may be a bit problematic for these individuals in the long run.

The cleaner comes with an assortment of accessories which allow better ease of cleaning on other surfaces. It has a 2.5-metre-long hose which you can connect with a hand tool so you can clean stairs. The hose length, however, may not be long enough for you to clean the whole staircase without moving the machine itself.

The hand tool can also be used to clean sofas, pillows, and other upholstery surfaces. The hand tool is built with the same SpinScrub brushes, making them as effective as the main upright cleaner.

It also comes with crevice tool so you can clean carpet or upholstery surfaces underneath bulky furniture or in otherwise hard-to-reach areas. This tool is of great use for car interiors, so you can reach underneath and in-between seats as well as between nooks and crannies in the back trunk.

The Vax carpet cleaner has an eight-metre-long cord that is sufficient enough to cover an average-sized floor, although you may have to use an extension cord if you live in a home with a wider floor area. Other products in the market typically have longer cord reaches, the average being ten metres.

It is a sturdy, durable machine that can do a great job with your carpets and other upholstery.
