Gocardless review – First hand Experience

When i started my business i was looking to streamline payments and i came across Gocardless. After a lot of research, i went with it and implemented it in my window cleaning business. In this Gocardless Review you will find out what Gocardless is, who it’s for and competitors that offer a similar service.

What is gocardless

Gocardless is a service that stands between your customer and your business. They help you collect direct debit payments and one off payments. Companies such as Sage, Thomas cook and even the HM Government uses it.

To set a service up like this yourself, it can cost thousands of pounds. And it will require a lot of admin time, you have to keep customers mandates for many years, and a lot of other problems.

Who is it for?

Gocardless is used by over 30,000 businesses of all sizes. Weather your a business with poor cash flow or you just like your money on time (think that is everyone).

If you have a business that requires a recurring fee, theres really no other service you should use other than this one. You can also take one off payments and set dates you want the money to come out of your clients account.

Why should you use it

The last thing on peoples mind is paying yet another bill, meaning you as a business is the last thing they think about, until being reminded. No more sending reminders to your customer to pay up, just one click of a button and your money is on its way to you.

Not only is the service great for your business, but it’s also great for your customers. If they can only pay at a certain time of the month, you can set the system to take out on that date.

If you offer a service like window cleaning like me, peoples houses gets cleaned on a schedule. All you have to do is get the customers signed up once then they don’t have to worry about paying you at all.

Gocardless fees

Like any business, there are costs involved to use the service. The Gocardless fees are fair for how much their business offers. They don’t charge you for setting an account up, theres no hidden fees.

gocardlees fees

  • 1% per transaction
  • Maximum charge of £2
  • Minimum charge of £0.20

The fees are really that straight forward, you can hardly notice them. Unless you was to process thousands, then you will notice the cost more.

Start saving time by taking Direct Debits

Why i love using it

I run a window cleaning round, and when i first started the business up cash flow was crap. And even some of the customers would take weeks to pay up, thats with me reminding them. So i moved my entire round over to gocardless and everyone now pays by Direct Debit, and my money is never late.

A great thing i like about it, is that you only have to send your customer to one sign up page. Once they have filled in the detail page, they are signed up. All i have to do is clean the customers windows, click done on my app and the money will be in my bank within 5 days.

Gocardless competitors

Of course there are many companies that offer a direct debit service. These are some of gocardless competitors, that offer a similar usage.

SmartDebit

They have the best Trustpilot score in the industry. They provide payment processing for some big companies and organisations, schools, insurance companies and charities.

They Offer

  • Fees based on volumes
  • Cheque processing

AccessPay

This company is also a big player, providing payment services for ITV. So if your a big business don’t be worrying if they can handle payments of you because they can.

They Offer

  • Same day payments
  • Multi currency payments

Conclusion:

There are more competitors than what we have listed, but these are the highest rated from what we found. If you thinking about implementing Gocardless or direct debit into your business, you will not regret it. It makes everything so much easier, less admin time and less chasing customers.
